There’s one fact we must all face. It doesn’t matter what we claim as our worldview, everyone of us is going to die. That’s a fact. This is one statistic that never changes, one out of every one of us is going to die. With this reality, there are two questions we should answer: 1. How did we get here? and 2. Why are we here?

Materialists believe we got here by random chance - A big bang and a spark of life and millions of years of evolution. An Agnostic claims he doesn’t know how we got here. Christians believe we were created by an all-powerful God. Even atheists believe there was a beginning. Christians believe the beginning was God. This one God said “Let US make man in OUR image” (Gen. 1:26). A singular, yet united God with three personalities. Jesus is that creator (Jn. 1:1-3; Col. 1:16-17). We see the amazing designs all around us and are convinced there must have been a Designer.

Materialists would have to say we are here to survive and grab all the enjoyment we can. Agnostics don’t know. Christians believe we are here to honor God. Christianity is different than all world religions. All world religions tell us of man’s search for God. What makes Christianity stand out is that it is about God’s pursuit of man. Jesus didn’t come to earth just to make it a better place to live. He didn’t come to raise our moral standards. He came to seek us. He came to save sinners by forgiving us of our sins. He did that on the cross. By His death on the cross, Jesus removed every barrier that stood between us and God so we could live with Him forever.

Christianity is Good News. It’s the wonderful story of a God who made us, lost us, and loved us enough to buy us back. It’s about a God who gave us a purpose. We will honor Him and live with Him forever. No wonder it has been called the “greatest story ever told.”
