Sermon Series from Colossians
By Ron

One of the most telling things about a person is what they think of Jesus. Some really like Jesus, but he’s just one of many things going on in their lives. For some He’s like a good “self-help” book – a good tool to have in your tool box, but not the only thing.

Like many today, the church at Colossae was beginning to see Jesus as just another way, but not the Way. A mixture of false teachings had crept into the church that has come to be known as the “Colossian heresy.” It was a mixture of Jewish legalism, Gnosticism, Greek philosophy and ancient mystic religions. Jesus was the answer to the Colossian heresy. He was the all-sufficient, pre-eminent savior.

Paul declared our completeness in Christ. That He and He alone is sufficient for every spiritual and practical need in the life of a Christian. “For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority” (2:9- 11). “Christ is all and in all” (3:11). Christ was “all in” and we must be too.
