Koine Connection

Koine is Greek for “common” or “shared.” One of the things we share in Christ is our relationship with God. God has made a difference in our lives.

When Paul is brought before the authorities, he told his story. It was simple and clear. Here is what was going on in my life before I met Jesus. He reflects on this life in some of his letters. Then he tells of the difference God has made in his life. It’s a story of redemption. It’s a story about how God acts in our lives. Most of our stories aren’t as impressive as the apostle Paul’s, but it’s encouraging to hear each story.

When Paul wrote to those at Thessalonica, he talked about how their story had made an impact on others. He said, “For they themselves report about us what kind of a reception we had with you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve a living and true God, and to wait for His Son from heaven” (1 Thes. 1:9-10). This was a powerful story.

The power behind the song “Amazing Grace” is the simple story; “I once was lost, but now I’m found. Was blind, but now I see.” The story continues. God has not abandoned us. God is faithful. At times our faith is challenged, but God will give us strength. He encourages us to pray. It’s pretty shallow to ask and ask and ask and never recognize and acknowledge the answer to those prayers. Praise God for his lovingkindness.

One of the blessings of preaching is having the opportunity to tell my story. You all have heard of the numerous trials I have overcome by the power of God.

Koine Connection will be a time to hear one another talk about our walk with Christ. It will be an opportunity to create community and strengthen one another’s faith.
