Marriage Fixer Upper

You may have noticed that I borrowed the title from the popular HGTV show, “Fixer Upper” with Chip and Joanna Gaines. They take the worst house in the best neighborhood and do a complete transformation. There are some things that always happen in every show. They follow a set procedure that works.

They come up with a plan
They have a computer-generated set of blueprints intended to take the worst house and turn it into a dream house. When you see what they start with, you’d think that total demolition would be easier. Just tear it down and start over, but that’s never the route taken.

Demo Day
They get rid of the old stuff they don’t want. They decide what really needs to go and what can stay.

It’s time for construction and decoration. Make it “purdy”.

This is a formula that should work for your marriage. Even if you have a terrible relationship, there are some things you should know. Marriage is God’s idea and He has a plan. There are some things you might need to get rid of to make your marriage work. Rebuilding is hard work, but it’s worth it. The theory is not to stay in a bad marriage and be miserable, it’s to learn to make your marriage beautiful and be blessed!
