Frustration

Has anyone been frustrated by the weather lately? School closures, messed up schedules, unsure weather reports. We can’t control our environment. We can’t control school and road closures.

This past week I got sick. Oh, the aches, chills, headaches and the unmentionables. I wasn’t able to do the things I wanted. I couldn’t come on Wednesday night. Some miss by choice, but this was out of my hands. It can be so frustrating being sick.

Much of what bothers us in our life and troubles our soul are the things we can’t control. You can’t control the choices others make. You can’t control what others think about you or say about you. We can only control ourselves.

Although there’s so much out of our control, we can control how we’ll respond. No one can take away our attitude. It’s a choice that only we can make. We can decide to live in frustration or we can turn those frustrations over to the Lord.

The Bible says “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! 5 Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:4-7). We can decide how we respond to those things going on around us. We can live for His glory rather than focusing on the frustrations that are out of our control.
