God is Good

The overflowing theme of the Bible is that God is good. You can’t separate good from God. Everything he created was good. “O taste and see that the Lord is good” (Ps. 34:8). Can you say, “God is good?”

The first attack on man in the garden was an attack on God’s goodness. Satan implied that God was not good. Once Eve doubted God’s goodness, it was easy to disobey. Too often we preach a God that no one would want to love, worship or serve. God created the world and put His beauty on display (Ps. 19:1). Take it in. All that we can see, hear, smell, taste, and feel remind us of God’s goodness. Did you get any reminders this week that “God is good?”

God knows all about us, and still loves us. He knows our weaknesses and is still there for us. He knows our strengths and wants to use us. He says “I’d rather die than live in heaven without you.” It’s been said before “If God had a refrigerator, He’d have your picture on it. If he had a wallet, He’d have your photo in it.” Every morning He sends you a sunrise and closes each day with a beautiful sunset. Life is a gift, that’s why we call it the “present.” For a Christian, every crumb of food, every drop of water, every breath we take has been deliberately, thoughtfully, lovingly provided by God. Can’t you say, “God is good?”

Life can have its moments. There are events that bring us to our knees. It’s so easy to lose perspective and forget to see the big picture with the hand of God. Time and chance overtake us all. Yet, life has taught me over and over that God is good.

“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, For His lovingkindness is everlasting” Ps. 107:1
